Complete Desert Adventure

Pick up at Ouarzazate airport with a 4×4 car and exit towards west to visit the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, an example of traditional Berber architecture, a World Heritage Site and the scenario of several film productions such as Gladiator,  Asterix & Obelix and many others. Afterwards, we will go in direction Dades, but before reaching the city we will pass through Ouarzazate, known for being the “Hollywood of Morocco” and having the largest film studios in Africa. Later on we will visit the Valley of the Roses and the small Berber town Kelaat Meggouna, where the festival of roses is celebrated every year at the beginning of May. Finally, we will arrive at Boumalne Dades,
berber city located at about 1600m high and an ideal place for lovers
of mountain and trekking to discover the central Atlas with Meggoun, the
second highest peak in Morocco of over 4000m. Dinner and accommodation
at the hotel.

We will wake up in Dades. Breakfast at the hotel and excursion by 4×4 car to the mountain to discover a part of the Meggoun massif in the central High Atlas. Our first stop of the day will be a visit to a family of nomads that live in the caves, later to pass through the Berber village of Boutaghrar, from where we will continue towards the Dades Valley. We then leave Boutaghrar behind and set our course towards the great Tafilalet while driving along the scenic Berber villages until we reach the wells of the Arab village of Jorf, where we will stop to see an old millenary and traditional irrigation system called “jettarat”. We will arrive in the afternoon to the city of Erfoud known as “the door to the desert”, famous for its delicious dates and where the festival of dates is celebrated every year at the end of October.

Breakfast at the hotel and departure in a 4×4 car with a personal driver. The first stop of the day is the historic city of Rissani, cradle of the Alaoui dynasty that currently reigns in Morocco, to see the Mausoleum of the Holy Moulay Ali Cherif, the founder of the Dynasty.
We will visit a typical market, the largest in the area and where all the inhabitants of the surrounding villages supply, including the nomads of the desert. We will stop to see the unique donkey parking lot that is a place well worth visiting. We will pass by the Marine Fossil
Quarries, with an antiquity of 360 million years, later to cross one of the tracks that was used in the Dakar Rally, which will take us through
some absolutely stunning scenery. We will continue till reaching the Tisserdimine Oasis, place that was part of the exteriors of the movie Sahara. After sightseeing, we will organize a picnic in the shade of the palm trees and continue until we reach the dunes of  Erg Chebbi where we will ride on camels to contemplate an unforgettable sunset.
Besides, we will spend a night in authentic “jaimas”. The sky full of stars is a celestial spectacle that should not be missed.

At dawn we will climb the great dune to watch the sunrise and see the spectacular play of lights in the sand.
After having a morning tea, we will return to the hotel where we will have a moment for ourselves before continuing with our 4×4 vehicle around Erg Chebbi. Following the sand route of the Rally we will get to Khamlya,a small town with inhabitants originally from black Africa, where we will have a cup of traditional tea while attending their dances. We will continue our journey towards the west passing through the southern slope of the Anti Atlas that offers us an unforgettable lunar landscape. We will pass by many Berber villages along the way until we reach Alnif where we will change the route to pass through Tinghir, small and prosperous Berber city with an impressive landscape of the contrasts between the ocher of the ancients “Ksares” (Berber castles), the color of the new constructions and the green of the palm grove and other crops. We will reach the majestic  Todgha Gorges with its 300 m high cliffs where we can take a short walk to explore the surrounding area along the river. We will continue our journey to finally reach Boumalne Dades.

After breakfast at the hotel, we begin the journey back to Ouarzazate. This gives us a chance to visit more places before going to the airport. There will be possibilities for some additional stops – all in accordance with the weather and conditions.
We will have an opportunity to visit the Kasbah of Taourirt, the palace of the pacha of Marrakech Thami Laglaoui or the famous film studios,where we will see the montages that were used for filming several movies and hear some interesting anecdotes about them. Free lunch and transfer to the airport. Farewell from the staff and end of our services.
